Now, we start getting into the meat of Wallace Wattles’
The Science Of Getting Rich.
 
Everything begins with a thought.  You take that
thought, and you cast it out into the Universe, so the
Universe can grab hold of that thought.
 
The thought starts to become a shape in the Universe.
 
It doesn’t just pop the thing right into your hand.
 
It starts pulling the forces together to direct the
shape of the imagined thought to come to you.
 
He uses the example of a house.
 
If you think about the house, it doesn’t just plop the
house right out of the sky and onto the ground.  But,
what happens, is the Universe starts guiding the money
need to purchase the materials, and the people with the
skills to come into your path.  Before long, the
imagined thought of a house, starts to become a
reality.
 
He then shows that you get whatever you think.  And,
the problem is that most people don’t think the truth.  
They think simplistically and trivially.
 
But, if you think the truth, the truth becomes a
reality.
 
But, if you focus on things that are wrong, you also
get them.
 
Think about sickness, you get sick.
 
Focus on poverty, you get poverty.
 
So, you see, it works for both good and bad.
 
Little sidenote here:  We are bombarded from youth with
about 93% negative.  The very first word you learn is
“no.”  Parents sometimes think they are trying to help
their children by jolting them into action by saying,
“You’ll never amount to nothing.”  But, what happens is
children believe their parents, and their sub-conscious
starts shaping them in that direction.  And, they
eventually become nothing.  
 
It takes a lot of mental conditioning to overcome the
negative that has bombarded your life.  Most people
want to be able to read one book, or listen to one
tape, or go to one seminar, and instantly and forever
change their lives.  But, it never happens.
 
Why?  
 
Because, there is far more negative than there is
positive.
 
Obi-Wan Kenobi tells Luke that the dark side of the
force is quicker, but not better.
 
The same is true with “negative” vs. positive.  The
negative is quicker, but not better.
 
You have to focus on the truth constantly.  That you
have a great life.  That God, or the Universe, gives
you the best things that you need and want in your
life.  
 
We’ll show a little later in this study what happens
when you focus on the negative to try and get rid of
it.
 
Back to Wattles:
 
He tells you to not even listen to other teachers or
preachers that teach anything different about the
science of getting rich, other than what you have
learned in this book.  People will confuse you with
false facts  And, you should remain focused on the
truth.
 
And, the truth is this:  The Universe is filled with
formless shapeless stuff, that if you cast your
thoughts onto it, it responds with the creation of the
thought into a reality.

Hi Everybody,
 
Let’s start with Chapter 3 of The Science of Getting
Rich.
 
People think that the reason they are broke is because
somebody slammed the door on all the ways to get rich.
 
That’s not true.
 
The problem is everybody looks at the ways that people
are getting rich, and then try to wriggle their way in
to something that’s already been oversold. 
 
A couple quick personal notes here before we keep on
with this study.  If you are going tobe successful, you
have to have a different angle, or be the best, or be
the first.  So, you want to look for the newest
opportunities, or look at different ways of doing
something to be successful. 
 
Another thing I want to point out is this:  everybody
claims that if this person or that person gets into the
office of the President of the United States, that the
whole world will collapse.
 
In my lifetime, many claim that during the Carter years
was the worst years of economic prosperity.
 
But, where their people that got rich during Carter’s
years in office.  Yes.  Were there people that got
rich
when Lyndon Johnson was in.  Yes.  Even during the
depression, there were people who were still getting
rich.  So, (and this is kind of a set up for the rest
of the study of the chapter,) you now know it has
nothing to do with who is in office that will stop you
from getting rich.
 
Wattles mentioned the airline industry as the next big
thing to get rich, but we could just as well say,
today, “niche businesses” on the internet.  The point
is you go where the field is not overcrowded.
 
Wattles states that if you use “the Certain Way,” you
can quit your job and buy farm land.  In today’s day
and age, it could very well be, quit your job, and
start your own “You Tube” or next big idea to sweep the
internet.  (Besides, it’s cheaper to own a piece of
virtual real estate than it is actual real estate. 
But, you can then use the money from your virtual real
estate and buy actual real estate.)
 
As Wattles states, different opportunities are always
opening up in the direction of where they are needed. 
Need drives the opportunity. (That’s why it’s always
been my opinion that need is more powerful than want. 
When you need something, such as food, shelter, or
clothing, those aren’t the things that are abandoned to
make ends meet–at least not at the first.  It’s the
stuff you wanted that ends up going to the pawn shop to
cover the next meal.)
 
So, Wattles states, it’s not your boss, or the
money-makers that are oppressing you.  It’s the matter
of living in “the Certain Way,” that makes the
difference.  And, if everybody banded together who
worked together lived in “the Certain Way,” they all
could buy a business and work together so that
everybody got rich.
 
Wattles states there is more than enough materials so
that everybody could live in a palace, and dress like
kings.  And, if you think about it, how many shoes, and
clothing are discarded because they didnt’ sell.  So,
there’s enough for everybody.
 
Part of “the Certain Way,” is based on the fact that
there is an endless supply of material to make
everything we need.  And, if we run out of stuff, new
ways will be made to create more stuff.
 
Now, you might doubt this idea.  But, let me, Brother
Paul, personally show you that he is right.  We have
heard for years that there’s going to be an oil
shortage, and we won’t have enough gas or oil to make
it.
 
But, recently, it’s been discovered that you can make
corn into a form of alcohol, known as ethanol, that has
the potential of being a complete fuel in itself within
a few years.  And, wind farms are being put up to
harness the power of the wind to turn it into
electricity.  And, then there’s always my favorite,
which I have thought for years the government needed to
focus on:  the sun.  That’s going to be around for at

least another 93 million years, and it’s energy can be
harnessed.
 
So, there really is an endless supply of material for
us to have everything we need or want.
 
Back to Wattles:
 
He then points out that the Universe was put here to
make everything grow.  If you think about it, he’s
right.  If something is growing, it’s called
thriving. 
If it’s not, it’s dead.  Therefore, we were put on this
earth to grow and to consume.  Not to shrink. 
 
You can control all these materials, if you will start
living in “the Certain Way.”
 
Next week, we will start looking at the first law of
getting rich and start learning some of these
principles.  (Wattles and I just had to first make you
believe it’s true and that it can happen.)

Now, go and be a success!

I’m sure that you all are now sick and tired of having
to ka-tow to a boss.
 
But, there is only one way you are going to get out of
the situation where you have to work for somebody else.
 
That’s to own your own business.
 
Now, it’s not easy.  And, hopefully, you are still with
me, and haven’t rushed off to quit your job.
 
But, you do need to start thinking about it.
 
The apostle Paul told slaves, “If you can gain your
freedom, do so.”
 
But, there is a lot to do when you own your own
business.  There are regulations, and supplies, and
records.
 
Plus promotion, marketing, and advertising.
 
It ain’t easy.

Let’s get to our study of Wallace Wattles’ Science
of Getting Rich.
 
Wattles teaches there is a “Certain
Way” (which means both guaranteed,
and a precise way of doing
things), which will guarantee that you get rich.
 
He teaches us that whether you do this on purpose,
or trip over the method by accident, if you do it,
you will get rich.  And, if you don’t, quite simply,
you won’t.
 
Here’s some things he states to prove his point.
 
It has nothing to do with where you live; if it did,
then everybody in that town would be rich, and
everybody else around that town would be broke.
 
And, he points out it has nothing to do with the job you hold,
because rich people and poor people, who
are sometimes doing the exact same job, live in the
same town, sometimes right next door to each other.
 
And, it has nothing to do with talent.  Because,
some people with no talent are reeking of rich,
while there are other talented folks who are dirt
poor.
 
And, he points out that geniuses get rich, and total
morons get rich, athletes get rich, and weaklings
get rich. So, it must be something that EVERYBODY
can do.
 
Anybody that can read these words has enough ability
to get rich.
 
The only real qualification to getting rich, is that
you have to be in contact with people.
 

If you’ve got a skill, it will help to get rich, but
it’s not necessary.  And,
it helps to live somewhere
that needs your skills, because you really don’t
want to open up a farm store in downtown Manhattan,
and you wouldn’t up a Jaguar dealership in the
middle of corn-field country.
 
And, he further goes to disprove the theory that you
need money to start making money.  True, it helps
once you start getting money, But, you start getting
money by doing things in the “Certain Way.”

 
You start doing things in the “Certain Way,” and if
you don’t have money, you’ll start getting money.  
If you’re in the wrong business, you can get in the
right business.  If you are living in the wrong
town, you can move to the right town.  And, you can
do it all starting in the very job that you are in,
right where you live.
 
Next week, we’ll start looking at whether or not
there is any opportunity left to be able to get
rich. (And, I think you already know the answer
before we even get to next week.)

Study of The Science Of Getting Rich

We want to thank Rebecca Fine for
bringing Wallace Wattles work out of
the hidden depths of the public domain
and into the hands of the internet.

If you want the redneck version, then go and
check out the e-books I gave you when you
joined up and look on your hard drive for
my “redneck” “Festusized” version of
“The Exact Way Ta Git Rich,” which was
written that way to grab your attention and
simplify some of Mr. Wattles rather high-tone
English, and not to make fun of Festus Haggin
or rednecks.

About the preface:

Wallace Wattles was a man who was broke most of his life,
but he did somethng about it towards the end of his life.
 
He finally got sick and tired of being broke.
 
So, he studied.
 
He studied Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Hegel, and Spinoza, and
all the great philosphers out there to determine exactly
what it would take to be rich.
 
And, he did it.
 
So, what we’re going to do is study this book over the next
17 weeks, and we are going to teach you what he discovered.
 
You see, a little over 3 years ago, I came across this book.
 I read it from cover to cover and started putting the
principles into practice.
 
Now, I’m not rich enough to buy anything I want, yet.
 
But, I’ve had some success.  I’m in the top 2% of all
internet marketers. 
 
And, it was this one book that sparked it.
 
So, let’s get into it.
 
In the preface, he tells you that this is not a book for
everybody, regardless of whether they are male or female.
 
It’s for those who want to get rich first, and not for those
who want to study how the conclusions came about, although
he gives enough evidence to show that it’s true.
 
All he asks is that you accept it as fact.
 
And, he says, if you want to know how he figured it all out,
then go read the works of the guys he mentions.
 
Then, he delves right into the first lesson.
 
He tells you there is no way to justify that being poor is
good.
 
He states that you can’t show your best side of what you
know and do, unless you are rich.  And, he’s not talking
about being rich figuratively.  He’s talking about actually
“money in the bank” rich.
 
And, he says, in this day and age, you need a lot of money
just to live.  (And, just think gas prices hadn’t even gone
up in those days!  The automobile was only 7 years old, when
he wrote this.)
 
And, he’s not talking about having just a little bit and
being happy. Because, in his opinion, if you’re happy with
just a little bit, it’s a sin.
 
He states that it is only right to want to be rich, as
everything is about growth.
 
He states there are three things, your mind, body, and soul,
and that all of them have to be rich, and that you can’t
neglect one for either or both of the others.  His statement
is the only way to do this is to be rich.
 
He also states that if you know what you’re doing, that you
will follow his “Certain Way,” (which can be translated as
both a positive “has to happen” way, as well as “a specific
method.”) that you cannot fail to get rich.
 
So, let’s summarize:
 
It was written by a guy who studied the best of philosophers
to show people how to do this, regardless if they are a man
or a woman.
 
That it costs a lot of money just to make it.
 
That you should want to get rich, and that you need to get
rich, so that you can be the best that you want to be.
 
That we’re not talking rich figuratively, but materially,
and that, in turn, you can use the material wealth to build
your inner wealth of your mind body, and soul.
 
And, that there is a “Certain Way” to do it!
